What Are All-on-6 Dental Implants?

All-on-6 is a full-arch dental treatment in which six dental implants are placed in the jawbone to support a fixed dental restoration. It may be considered for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth in one jaw and are looking for an implant-supported alternative to removable dentures.

The six implants are positioned according to the patient’s bone structure, oral health and planned restoration. Once the implants have been placed, they provide support for a fixed set of replacement teeth designed to restore appearance, speaking and chewing function.

All-on-6 treatment is not planned in exactly the same way for every patient. A clinical examination and imaging assessment are required to determine whether this approach is suitable.

Treatment Suitability

Who Is All-on-6 Treatment Suitable For?

All-on-6 treatment may be considered for patients with extensive tooth loss who are looking for a fixed, implant-supported dental restoration. Suitability must be determined through clinical examination and dental imaging.

When May All-on-6 Be Considered?

  • Most or all teeth are missing in one dental arch
  • Existing teeth cannot be predictably restored
  • A fixed alternative to removable dentures is being considered
  • The patient is medically suitable for dental implant surgery
  • The available jaw structure can support the planned implant positions
Oral health, bone structure, medical history, smoking habits and existing dental conditions can influence treatment planning.

How Many Teeth Can All-on-6 Replace?

The number six refers to the dental implants used to support the restoration. It does not mean that the patient receives only six replacement teeth.

Six implants support a fixed restoration designed for a complete dental arch. The number, shape and arrangement of the visible teeth are determined during restorative planning.

Treatment may be planned for one jaw or, when clinically appropriate, for both the upper and lower jaws.

Six implants support a complete fixed dental arch, not six individual replacement teeth.
Treatment Overview

Potential Benefits of All-on-6 Treatment

All-on-6 is designed to support a fixed full-arch restoration. The potential benefits and final result depend on the patient’s oral condition, clinical plan and long-term maintenance.

01

Stable Implant Support

Six implants are used to distribute support across the planned full-arch restoration. Their positions are determined according to the patient’s bone structure and clinical needs.

02

Fixed Dental Restoration

All-on-6 supports a fixed restoration rather than a removable denture. The aim is to provide greater stability during speaking, smiling and everyday function.

03

Natural-Looking Appearance

The shape, colour and arrangement of the replacement teeth can be planned according to the patient’s facial features, smile, bite and restorative requirements.

04

Jawbone Support

Dental implants transfer functional forces to the jawbone and may help support the surrounding bone structure. The effect varies according to the patient’s initial condition.

How Is All-on-6 Treatment Planned?

All-on-6 treatment includes clinical, surgical and restorative stages. The exact process and timing vary according to each patient’s oral condition and treatment requirements.

01

Initial Assessment

Dental concerns, existing teeth and available dental records are reviewed.

02

Clinical Examination

The teeth, gums, bite and general oral condition are examined at the clinic.

03

Imaging and Planning

Dental imaging may be used to evaluate the jawbone and planned implant positions.

04

Implant Placement

Six implants are placed according to the personalised treatment plan.

05

Restorative Stage

The fixed restoration is planned around implant stability, bite and smile requirements.

When clinical conditions are suitable, the six implants may be placed during one surgical session. This does not mean that every treatment stage is completed on the same day.
Treatment Comparison

All-on-4 vs All-on-6: What Is the Difference?

Both treatments are designed to support a fixed full-arch dental restoration. The main difference is the number of implants used, but implant number alone does not determine which treatment is more suitable.

Treatment Consideration All-on-4 All-on-6
Number of implants Four implants per treated jaw Six implants per treated jaw
Restoration type Fixed full-arch restoration Fixed full-arch restoration
Support distribution Support is distributed across four planned implant positions Support is distributed across six planned implant positions

I had a full dental treatment at Klinik7 with Dr. Barbaros in just two visits, and I can’t thank the whole team enough for their kindness and professionalism. ( many thanks to dr Nasuh Kolsuz and Dr Esra Ozturk). From the start, Dr. Barbaros created a personalized dental plan for me after a full X-ray, making sure everything was done carefully and to the highest standard. He really took the time to ensure I was happy with the results. The entire staff were wonderful – professional, kind, and excellent at communication. Special thanks to Esra, who took care of us from the beginning, organizing transport and accommodation to a very high standard. I was completely impressed with their customer service, attention to detail, and the quality of care. Highly recommend Klinik7 to anyone considering dental treatment abroad

Recovery and Maintenance

Recovery, Aftercare and Long-Term Maintenance

Long-term care includes daily cleaning around the implants and restoration, maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular dental reviews. The maintenance requirements may vary according to the restoration and the patient’s oral condition.
