WHY SHOULD I WHITEN MY TEETH?
Teeth may change color depending on tea and coffee consumption and smoking habits. This disrupts the smile aesthetics and causes a bad appearance. Teeth whitening treatment can be applied to lighten the color of the tooth and restore its natural appearance. Discoloration and darkening may occur over the years. With the tooth whitening process, the tooth color does not change completely, but its shade get lighter.
Teeth whitening takes about 1 hour. It is a painless procedure that does not require local anesthesia. After the procedure, the teeth can be whitened by a minimum of 1 or 2 shades and this level can reach up to 5-6 shades depending on the age of the person and the degree of coloration.
The patient should not consume coloring foods and beverages, tea, coffee, red wine and cigarettes for 48 hours.
There are 4 types of bleaching.
Office Type: It is a bleaching process performed in 1 hour with a higher concentrated bleaching agent in a clinical setting and gives immediate results. The patient shouldn’t use coloring agents for 48 hours after this procedure.
Home Type: It is a low-concentration bleaching process that is applied by means of tooth whitening trays specially prepared according to the patients mouth, taking impressions from the patients teeth. This bleaching agents is applied by the patients for minimum 5 days, during this time coloring agents shouldn’t be consumed.
Office and Home Type Combination: This method is most effective whitening method. If the patients feels yellowing in his teeth later, he can regain his old whiteness in 1 night by using the whitening tray given to him.
Internal Whitening: It is the whitening process performed by means of whitening agents applied into the teeth that have darkened after root canal treatment.
