Fear of the dentist, or dentophobia, is a very common condition. We can almost hear you say, "But I'm so scared." Yes, everyone is very scared, believe me, but everyone's emotional state of feeling fear is different.
So, have you ever thought about the main source of your fear of the dentist? Is it your past experience, the needle, the doctor, the white coat, environmental factors, the sounds you hear during the procedure, or the patient chair?
In fact, the main reason behind these fears is the traumas you have experienced during dentist treatment in the past. Of course there are ways to try to get around this.
First you must know the source of your fear. Without generalizing the fear, visualize your past bad experience. Discover the reason that creates this fear in you. Explain this to yourself and be honest. You know you don't have to start treatment right away, how about having a short chat with your doctor first? The trust relationship between doctor and patient is a very important step in overcoming fear, remember this. Then, you can be examined and extend the treatment over a certain period of time and schedule your doctor appointments accordingly. Do not forget to get detailed information from your doctor about the entire treatment protocol. Because another source of our fears is uncertainty. Environmental factors are also a very important factor in the formation of fears. Especially children or individuals who have never been to the dentist may be influenced by the dentist stories told around them and develop fear. That's why you should prefer not to talk about such bad experiences in front of children. You should not get involved in dentist adventure conversations that create fear in you.
Short breathing exercises will also be very useful to reduce fear. You should especially try to sit in the dentist's chair, do a short breathing exercise, close your eyes, stay in the moment and experience this right before starting the treatment. There is no problem that cannot be overcome, remember that.
Stay happy and healthy :)
